The complexities of facial aging are more than just loose, sagging skin that requires tightening. Volume loss in the face is a complex component of facial aging. This volume loss around the nose and mouth are one of the first noticeable signs of facial aging. However, with the help of facial fillers like Juvederm Ultra XC of the Juvederm line of facial fillers, even mild-to-moderate lines and wrinkles around the nose and mouth can be corrected to restore the youth that the ravages of time have stolen away.

Juvederm Ultra XC by Allergan, the Makers of Botox

A well-established and highly regarded dermal filler, Juvederm Ultra XC is designed to plump and add volume to the lips and smooth out other facial lines and creases such as the nasolabial folds, marionette lines, and even depressed areas in the cheeks. Approved by the FDA, Juvederm Ultra XC is also sometimes used to reshape and sculpt facial contours for a more pleasing appearance.

Juvederm Ultra XC can:

  • Help restore age-related facial volume loss
  • Provide facial contouring for improved facial symmetry
  • Restore plumpness and fullness to the lips
  • Minimize fine lines in and around the lips
  • Restore volume beneath the surface of the skin to minimize or eliminate nasolabial folds and marionette lines
  • Fill in depressed areas in the cheeks
  • Act as a “liquid facelift” by temporarily sculpting and reshaping facial contours

Who is the Ideal Candidate for Juvederm Ultra XC?

The ideal candidate for Juvederm Ultra XC is anyone over the age of 21 who would like to reverse the signs of aging who would like to improve the fullness and symmetry of their lips. As long as you are healthy and have no medical contraindications to treatment, as determined by an Aesthetic Injection Specialist during a consultation, then you are likely a good candidate for treatment.

What to Expect During a Juvederm Ultra XC Treatment?

Following a consultation that includes a full health history and examination, your Aesthetic Injection Specialist will prep your skin with alcohol to cleanse the injection site and prevent infection. The “XC” in Juvederm Ultra XC denotes the 0.3 percent of lidocaine, a local anesthetic, that is included in the filler. This helps minimize discomfort during the injection process; however, your provider may also provide a topical anesthetic and/or ice to help numb the area prior to treatment. Treatment is administered using a very fine needle into the area of concern. Your provider will then use their hands to sculpt the filler into the right areas and shape to ensure the best results.

Juvederm Ultra XC Results

The effects of Juvederm Ultra XC injections are usually noticeable immediately. The specially designed hyaluronic acid formulation draws moisture to the treatment area while stimulating increased collagen production. As a result, many patients experience even more improvements as time passes. In clinical trials, 88 to 90 percent of participants reported that their improvement had been maintained at 24 weeks. Most people do not require additional injections for nine to 12 months, making Juvederm Ultra XC a convenient and affordable option for facial rejuvenation.

Juvederm Ultra XC Recovery

Juvederm Ultra XC injections are administered on an outpatient basis. The vast majority of those who undergo the procedure at Skin By Lovely are able to resume their usual activities immediately with just a few exceptions; we recommend that patients avoid high temperatures, direct sunlight, and exercise for 1-2 days following treatment. Minor discomfort and swelling may occur after treatment, but it’s minimal and manageable for most patients.
Potential Complications From Juvederm Ultra XC
In clinical trials, 80 to 90 percent of participants experienced mild side effects such as redness, firmness, mild pain, lumps, and swelling near the treatment area. Around 60 percent experienced mild bruising while another 35 percent reported discoloration and itching. All of the reported symptoms generally subsided within just seven days. It should also be noted that people who are allergic to lidocaine or other ingredients in Juvederm Ultra XC should not receive treatment.

1Individual results may vary. 2All manufacturer claims, in regards to the benefits, process, length/effectiveness of treatments, how soon you’ll see results or heal, or claims of minimal side effects such as minor redness or mild discomfort or no downtime, are provided by the pharmaceutical manufacturers as part of their guidelines in promoting their product and are backed by case studies/peer-reviewed publications and are published on their individual websites. 3Testimonials are the opinions of real clients that wanted to provide them and express their opinion to others. When written, the only editing done was to fix minor grammatical/syntax errors and/or to truncate extended testimonials that, while nice, went a bit long. Video testimonials are unedited. 4Treatments and services that are time-related (such as fees per a “20 minute session”) are rooted in the fact that most appointments (i.e. the historical average amount of time required to complete most areas we treat) take that amount of time; however, it may be recommended or advised or necessary that more than one session time is required to achieve whatever affect you’re looking for (such as someone wanting to treat many areas of their body vs someone simply wanting to treat their hands). A quick consultation in our office will provide you the exact time required to treat whatever you wish since treatment areas have a direct impact on time required to treat such areas. 5Superlatives, when describing services/products, are manufacturer claims and, in the end, it’s your opinion as to what service/product is right/effective/best for you. 6Internal comparison claims comparing one technology to another (such as stating that a new product is x% better than the previous model, similar to how a 2018 model vehicle has many advances/improvements over a 2010 vehicle), when comparisons are done within the same company’s lineup, are the manufacturer’s statement-of-fact and reflect the latest science and/or breakthrough that, when released as a product, is the best/most effective at the time within their own product lineup — they are not claims comparing their product against other manufacturers’ products. 7Videos, which we have chosen to add links to on our website, are either local television coverage pieces or third-party videos that we feel are great for learning and gaining an overview of the process of several services we offer; but third-party videos (e.g. those in the public domain, such as YouTube) in no way should be construed as an endorsement of Nuderma Health and Med Spa and/or our services specifically. They are meant as an awareness tool to help you decide upon common treatments provided by Nuderma Health and Med Spa and med spa providers nationwide. Some videos are produced by the pharmaceutical manufacturers and others are by service providers.
