What is Kybella?

How does Kybella work?
The active ingredient in Kybella is a synthetic version of deoxycholic acid, a naturally-occurring molecule in the body that helps with the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. When Kybella is injected directly into the excess fat under the chin, it destroys fat cells within the area, making it impossible for fat to be stored there anymore.
What happens during the Kybella treatment?
When you arrive for your Kybella appointment, we will take “before” images of you. A temporary dot grid to help guide your physician.
You can expect roughly 10 to 25 injections over the course of several minutes. You will feel a burning sensation which is the actual medication taking action, but you will be given an Ice roller to help with this. The discomfort you may feel is tolerable and short lived.
Afterward, your chin/neck area may feel slightly sore for a few days and you will notice local swelling that lasts a several days while your Kybella does the job. Kybella generally works best after 2 to 4 treatments, spaced six weeks apart.

Kybella recovery and when can I see results?
Within about a week, any swelling will resolve. You may feel some soreness in the area after the Kybella injections, but this should not be severe. Icing the treatment area can help in the first few days.
After about 4-6 weeks, you may see the desired results. For some, it might take multiple procedures to achieve their final goal. Depending on the lines you want to sculpt and the contoured look you are going for, it could take up to six treatments.
Once the treatments are complete, however, you will have a sculpted, defined jawline--no more double chin!
Who is a candidate for Kybella?
Kybella is for generally healthy men and women who want to eliminate stubborn pockets of fat underneath the chin - without surgery.
