Laser Lipo

Laser Liposuction is a fat removal and body contouring procedure in which fat is liquified with a laser-assisted liposuction device. Fat is more easily removed with this procedure, and the laser energy is also able to mildly tighten the skin by stimulating various proteins under the skin including collagen.  Most any area of the body can be treated with liposuction and we often combine this with skin tightening methods including the Renuvion.  By adding this procedure you achieve increased skin tightening and definition.

How Laser Liposuction Works

A thin tube that directs the laser energy is inserted underneath the skin.  Laser heat energy is delivered to the fat deposits, which melt the excess fat. Once the fat is melted, it’s very easy to remove. The laser energy also heats up collagen inside the skin, which mildly tightens up any lax skin. The laser’s heat energy does not damage any surrounding tissues because the laser only targets fat deposits.

Recovery and Results

You will notice swelling deal with some swelling and bruising.  Patients also feel discomfort for a few days post-surgery that is improved with pain medications and post op massages.  Recovery time is necessary, with only a few days of downtime needed before returning to usual activities.  We suggest avoiding high intensity exercise for three weeks.

Many patients see results in a few days, with optimal results in 6 months.

FAQ

Can laser liposuction be combined with other procedures?

Yes. Laser liposuction is often combined with other cosmetic procedures like Renuvion to provide smoother skin and more definition to the areas treated.

Does fat ever come back?

Fat removed by laser liposuction does not return; however, if you gain a considerable amount of weight later on in life, that new fat may develop and appear in different areas of the body, resulting in new problem areas. If you’re going to undergo laser liposuction, it’s important to exercise regularly and eat a healthy diet to maintain your results.

Is laser liposuction safe?

Laser liposuction is very safe when performed by a licensed and experienced physician. Laser lipo is more gentle than traditional liposuction, and can be performed with local anesthesia (you’re awake) instead of general anesthesia (you’re asleep).

What risks are involved with laser liposuction?

Working with a certified and experienced laser liposuction physician will greatly minimize the potential for any risks. We also highly recommend receiving post op care with massage and lymphatic drainage to greatly enhance your results.  Lymphatic massage, red light therapy and post-op ultrasound can be provided during your recovery.  As with most procedures there is a risk of infection, bruising, and temporary skin numbness.
